Join a community of fungi fanatics and homegrown foodies in this hands-on, outdoor workshop! We will discover how to select, inoculate, and care for gourmet mushroom logs as well as how to cultivate edible mushrooms in your garden beds and walkways. Each participant will leave with a ready-to-grow log or bag of inoculated substrate for home-grown mushrooms right in your own backyard.

Ever wanted to grow your own delicious, fresh mushrooms at home? Join us for an engaging, hands-on workshop where we’ll show you how to cultivate gourmet mushrooms like wine cap, shiitake, oyster, and lion’s mane—using simple, low-tech methods you can easily incorporate into your garden or backyard!

In this beginner-friendly class, we’ll cover:

  • Growing Mushrooms on Logs: Learn how to inoculate logs with mushroom spores and watch them flourish over time with minimal effort.
  • Mushroom Gardening: Discover how to grow mushrooms directly in your garden beds—no fancy equipment required! Grow more food in the garden and keep weeds DOWN!
  • Low-Cost, Sustainable Techniques: We’ll focus on natural methods to get you started, making mushroom cultivation accessible and fun for everyone.
  • Variety of Mushrooms: From the meaty textures of shiitake to the brain-like beauty of lion’s mane, we’ll talk about different types of mushrooms, their growth habits, and the best ways to grow them as well as recipes and their medicinal benefits.

This workshop is perfect for gardeners, foodies, or anyone looking to dive into the rewarding world of mushroom cultivation. You’ll leave with the knowledge and confidence to start your own mushroom-growing journey—whether you have a small garden or a larger outdoor space.

No experience needed—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm! It’s easier than you think to grow your own gourmet mushrooms, and we’ll be here to guide you every step of the way.

Bryan & Alyssa are farmers, foragers and homesteaders with hearts for stewardship. They love sharing their knowledge of permaculture systems, medicinal mushrooms and folk herbalism as avenues to support the remembrance of our connection to land as place.

Come dressed for the weather as this event is rain or shine, outside. Bring along a bag chair and an open mind. Light refreshments will be provided.
